As preparations intensify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced TECNO, a leading AI-powered technology brand under Transsion Holdings, as an Official Global Partner. This renewed partnership also extends to the 2027 edition, which will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
With a vision to inspire and support young people across Africa through the combined power of sports and technology, TECNO’s involvement aims to foster growth and innovation across the continent. The collaboration will provide a strong platform for empowering African youth through the brand’s “Stop at Nothing” spirit, encouraging ambition and resilience.
This is not TECNO’s first involvement with CAF. The company previously served as the exclusive smartphone sponsor during the TotalEnergies AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023, which resulted in remarkable brand engagement and visibility across Africa. That success laid the foundation for this broader partnership.
CAF General Secretary, Véron Mosengo-Omba, announced the partnership during a press event in Nairobi. He praised the growing appeal of the AFCON tournament and welcomed TECNO’s continued investment in African football. He emphasized the positive impact such sponsorships have in helping the competition grow and reach wider audiences.
Benjamin Jiang, Vice President of Transsion Holdings, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the role of football in inspiring dreams and uniting communities. He noted that this collaboration goes beyond sports—it’s a shared mission to use AI and technology to build a brighter future for Africa.
As part of their commitment, TECNO will continue the “Dream Field Renovation” project, which was launched in 2024. This initiative seeks to upgrade 100 football fields across Africa by 2028 to promote healthy living and youth participation in sports.
