New FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o Fils has promised to unite all factions in Cameroonian football following his election on Saturday.
Eto’o won the election with a bigger margin which saw him poll 43 votes out of 74 votes.
The Barcelona great was contended by former President Seidou Mbombo Njoya whom during his reign was labeled incumbent. Seidou Mbombo Njoya received 31 votes in the process.
“I recognize the honor done me and I know the task that awaits me.” Eto’o said on Saturday.
“For those who voted for me, I am going to give my very best to uplift the image of Cameroonian football and reach the greater heights that we belong.
And to those who did not vote for me know that I respect your vote. I extend my hand for them to come on board so that we do it together. I have taken the responsibility of uniting the football family to raise the challenge from a new start” he added.
