The next election for the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) promises to be eventful as Samuel Eto’o who intends to contest for the seat of the FECAFOOT presidency is facing an early knockout.
As the expected candidacy of the former international takes shape day by day, the FECAFOOT electoral committee has just excluded candidates with dual nationality from the race.
No binational candidate can claim to lead the federation meaning the FC Barcelona great -who is a also Spanish citizen – is automatically barred from contesting the elections if this decision is not reversed.
“No dual nationality can apply for the post of president of Fecafoot. Candidates must be of Cameroonian nationality, ” a source said.
The announcement was made officially moments later by the President of the Electoral Commission of FECAFOOT, Magistrate Gilbert Schlick at a press conference.
