Micheal Essien has opted to stay out of supporting any of his former clubs as they engage each other in the Champion’s League semi-finals.
The ex Lyon midfield dynamo played for both clubs between 2006 to 2013. Essien enjoyed a lot of success during his Chelsea days after signing from Lyon in the summer of 2005 under Jose Mourinho, his carrier at the blues saw him win every trophy available at club level.
Lack of playing time saw him go on a season-long loan with Spanish giants Real Madrid reuniting with his former boss Mourinho.
Chelsea managed to reach the semi-final after beating Porto whiles Real Madrid dispatched Liverpool to set-up an epic clash for a ticket to Istanbul.
Both sides last met in 1998 in the UEFA Super cup final where Chelsea triumphed by a lone goal through Gus Poyet.
