Chelsea FC defeated Elmina Sharks FC in the round 30 of the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday afternoon in Berekum.
The one-time Ghana Premier League winners started the game on a blistering pace and got a reward for their dominant display very early in the match.
Highly-rated forward, Stephen Amankonah was on target for the home team after just three minutes into the match to settle the nerves and put the away team under immense pressure.
His goal was all the home team need to have their noses in front at the break despite both teams creating good goal-scoring chances in the first half.
In the second half, Sharks upped their game and pushed forward in search of an equalizer but could not utilize their chances.
Abdul Basit Mohammed converted a spot kick on the 61st minute of the match to put the hosts 2-0 as it looked over for the visitors to find their way back into the game.
During the additional time period of the match, Tahir Mensah scored a consolation goal for the Green and Whites as they suffered a 2-1 defeat on the road.
Chelsea’s win takes them 10th on the league table after 30 matches leaving Elmina Sharks on the 13th spot.
