The 29-year-old former New Castle United attacker says he wants to win an AFCON title with the Black Stars before he quits football.
The former Chelsea winger has not featured for the senior national team since his suffering an injury during the 2019 AFCON group stage game against Cameroon.
In an interview quoted by FootballMadeInGhana, the ex- Chelsea winger has disclosed he is still not ready to return to the national team neither is he considering retiring anytime soon.
He added by saying, he is working so hard to be fully fit for now and want to land a glory before he call it a quit with the Black Stars. He said;
“The coach understands and he told me to let him know when I’m ready. I need to be playing first.”
“If you look at the players Ghana has produced since we last won the AFCON (in 1982), it’s very sad,” he says. “We must target the January 2022 tournament. If I am part of it, as I hope, I will give everything. I do not want to retire without winning a trophy for Ghana. If I do, I’ll be a failure,” he concluded.
The 2015 Cup of Nations best player is currently clubless but Sports World Ghana understands he would soon join a Saudi Arabian club before the start of the 2021/22 season.
