Senegal national team head coach Aliou Cisse is confident that an African team can win the World Cup.

Cisse had his first win in the ongoing 2022 World Cup on Saturday, November 26 as he beat Qatar 3-1.

The former Teranga Lions skipper is convinced that per some of the results in the competition, it won’t be far for Africa to win the Mundial.

“Yes, an African country can win the World Cup, and I hope that it will be Senegal,” he stated in the Presser after his team’s win over Qatar.

“All the teams participating at this world cup are team’s who are worthy to be here.”

Cisse further mentioned that currently, the rudiments of the game have changed and no team can be classified as small.

“It is not like 30-35 years ago when the big fishes were eaten by the smaller ones alive.” Cisse added.

The Teranga Lions have their destiny in their own hands as they have to beat Ecuador in the final Group game in order to make it to the round of 16.
