Ghana coach CK Akonnor has given late call-ups to striker Caleb Ekuban and Joseph Paintsil for next week’s friendly matches against Mali and Qatar in Antalya, Turkey.
A statement on the Ghana Football Association website read: ”Meanwhile Head Coach C.K Akonnor has handed late call ups to Turkey based duo, Caleb Ekuban (Trabzonspor) and Joseph Paintsil (Ankaragucu). Ekuban has been drafted in to replace John Antwi, while, Paintsil replaces Lumor Agbenyenu.”
Ekuban, who plays for Turkish side Trabzonspor, will be making a return to the team since July 2019 when he featured at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The 26-year-old has regained full fitness and made two league appearances in the Turkish Super Lig.
Paintsil who is on a season-long loan move at Ankaragucu from Belgian side Genk, has also been handed his debut Black Stars call-up for the friendly.
