Recently sacked Ghana coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor is reported entitled to a whopping $350,000 following his dismissal as Black Stars head coach due to contractual agreements.
The ex-captain for German Bundesliga side VFL Wolfsburg, who was appointed in January 2020, was sacked on Monday evening, 20 months into after his appointment as Ghana coach.
It took just a week for him to lose his job as head coach for Ghana’s Black Stars following a 1-0 lost in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier in the hands of South Africa in Johannesburg, a result took the Stars down the ladder.
When he, Akonnor was hired by the Ghana FA in 2020, he signed a two-year contract worth $25,000 a month.
Dueto hisssacking as head coach of Ghana four months before the expiration of hisrrunning contract, Akonnor is expected to be compensated with a sum of $100,000.
Meanwhile, in his 20 months reign as Ghana’s coach, Akonnor was owed 11 months arrears that amounts to $325,000 plus $50,000 for being sacked.
Due to this, Akonnor is owed $475,000 by the government since they are in charge of the Black Stars coach’s salary.
He steered Ghana to four games, four defeats and two draws in 10 games as Ghana coach.
