Ghanaian forward Claudio Ofosu scored his maiden goal for Hartlepool United when they played out their first pre-season game in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United’sU23 side at their Academy ground on Monday.
The British-born Ghanaian international scored an 86th-minute goal to save Hartlepool United from defeat after Elias Sorensen had given the Magpies lead from the spot.
A player of Newcastle United was brought down and the referee offered them a penalty and Elias Sorensen stepped up and calmly converted the spot kick to make it 1-0 for the Magpies after just two minutes into the game.

Fosu then struck four minutes from regulation time with a volley to draw Hartlepool United level as they started their pre-season friendly with a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United.
Fosu, 12, joined Hartlepool United in the ongoing transfer window after a successful campaign with Southern League Premier Division side Royston Town, where he bagged in 9 goals and created 11 assists as they finished second.
The London born began his career with St Neots Town, making 24 appearances before joining Stevenage, progressing through the club’s youth system.
He also enjoyed loan spells at Biggleswade United, where he bagged three goals in six appearances, and then six appearances at Kings Langley before another loan spell at Mildenhall Town, all gaming valuable first-team experience.
