The Black Stars stalwart defender and captain for Columbus Crew SC, Jonathan Mensah scored his first goal of the season as his side secured a vital win away at Atlanta United on Saturday.
The 31-year-old Ghanaian defender was at his maximum best for the Yellow and Blacks as they kept a clean sheet to record a hard-earned narrow win on the road.
Mensah played full throttle for his team and was a pivot at the back for 2020 Major League Soccer winners throughout the encounter.
The first period of the match was keenly contested by both teams as they canceled each other out and for the first half to end in a 0-0 stalemate.
The second half saw both teams upping their game and going for the winner but both defense was resolute at the back.
Five minutes after the hour mark, the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winner, Mensah headed home the only goal of the match with a close range nodding home a flicked header by Marlon Hairston following a corner kick.
