Former Asante Kotoko and Ghana international, James Kwasi Appiah has cautioned Kotoko’s players to avoid being complacent following their winning start to the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors have won their first four league games so far in the campaign, scoring eight goals and conceding just once during that period – which has seen them go top of the summit after the first four games.
But the former Black Stars gaffer says the players need to focus and keep their heads on the grounds in order to achieve the targets they have set for themselves this season.
“For now they are doing very well, they shouldn’t be swollen-headed. They need to concentrate and make sure they take a game at a time,” Appiah told Akoma FM.
“They should never think they have won four games so that is the end of it. Once complacency sets in then it will be a big problem for the team. But they should know that any team that will be will be coming out in full force because they are top of the table and automatically all teams will be eyeing them and giving them a tough game. The most important thing is to concentrate and make sure they are focused.”
Kotoko is currently three points above King Faisal, who is second on the league log, while they are also nine points above arch-rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak.
