The Ivory Coast referees association is rocked by massive confusion as the official body for the men in black is divided on which Presidential aspirant to officially support.
In June this year the referees body headed by Souleymane Coulibally organized a general meeting in Yamoussoukro and decided to support the candidacy of Sory Diabate – seen as the main threat against Didier Drogba’s presidential ambitions.
In a controversial circumstances today in the Abidjan suburb of Yopougona group of soccer referees met to install a new president of the group – Danon Roland – and went ahead to elect to support Didier Drogba for Ivory Coast FA president.
The laws says no one group can support two candidates and as it stands now Diabate and Drogba have the endorsement of the same referees group.
