The negative impact of the recent political instability in Guinea has started to manifest after Guinean club Wakriya AC were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday in Senegal having been forced to play outside their country after President Alpha Conde was overthrown.
The Confederation of African Football ( CAF) ordered a one-off match between the Senegalese side Diambars FC and Wakriya instead of a two-legged affair.
Guinea military Officer Mamady Doumbouya was the instigator of the 5 September 2021 Guinean coup d’état, in which the president of Guinea, Alpha Condé, was detained forcing CAF and FIFA to prohibit any football match taking place in the Francophone African nation.
Wakriya AC traveled this Sunday to the Lat-dior stadium in Thiés in Senegal as Diambars defeated them by 3-0 with goals from Bachir Ngom through a penalty, Cherif Bodian, and Mohamadou Diaw.
Meanwhile Hearts of Oak are set to welcome another Guinea side CI de Kamsar in a one-off tie at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 19th as CAF decided.
