Crystal Palace Manager, Patrick Vieira is ready und willing to release Ghana star striker Jordan Ayew to join the Black Stars training camp in Doha ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The former Arsenal FC captain described the Africa Cup of Nations tournament as important as the EUROS following attempt by European clubs to prevent players from playing at the AFCON for their respective countries.
Despite others wanting the tournament postponed, Vieira insists the Nations Cup is important and needs to be given the respect kit deserves.
“I respect and understand the passion and the importance to players to go and represent their country so I will never stop any player going to play the Africa Cup of Nations,” the World Cup winner told the press ahead of their game against Tottenham.
“I believe that that competition needs to be more respected – because this competition is as important as the European Championships.”
Jordan Ayew who has scored a goal this season for the Eagles could be leaving after the Tottenham game to join his teammates in Qatar for the pre-AFCON camping.
Ghana kick start their Africa Cup of Nations campaign against Morocco on January 10, 2022.
