David Abagna Sandan is probably a name you’ve heard about in the Ghana Premier League for the past few years!
But maybe I should tell you more about the diminutive midfielder who has been bossing the midfield for the Obuasi-based Ghana Premier League side Ashantigold SC.
The 22-year-old Ghanaian midfielder has a very enviable and rich experience under his belt in the domestic league despite being very young.
In his debut Ghana Premier League season, the then 17-year-old midfielder helped Wa All Stars to win its first Ghana top-flight trophy in 2016.
David Abagna Sandan joined Ashantigold SC in July 2019 ahead of the 2019-20 season but the season was truncated due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in March 2020 after 14 matches.
This season, the youngster has been involved in 15 matches and has scored five goals and provided three assists, winning two Man-Of-The-Match awards in the process.
Abagna is one of the most important and effective players in the Ashantigold team this campaign and has received little or no hype about his stunning display so far in the Ghana League.
With his eight goals contribution and two MVP Awards, there’s no doubt that the 22-year-old is a jewel in the middle for the Miners this season.
Before I forget, Abagna was also the only player to have scored for the Black and Yellows in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign when he netted in his team’s 2-1 defeat in Burkina Faso against Salitas FC.
Not just his goal involvement, the hard-working midfielder has been a revelation and a consistent performer despite the inconsistencies display from the Miners this campaign.
His commitment, dedication, determination and discipline is one of his greatest strengths, and is destined for greatness if he is to keep up with his performance in the second round of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season.
