RC Strasbourg started the new Ligue 1 season on a bad note losing 3-1 at FC Lorient. Ghana striker Majeed Waris came off the bench in the second half but could not prevent his former club from picking all the points.
Waris replaced Bosnia and Herzegovina international Sanjin Prcic in the 64th minute when Strasbourg were losing 2-1.
France striker Mehdi Chahiri had given the visitors the lead at the half hour mark with a clever goal assisted by Ludovic Ajorque but the home side equalized in the 51st minute and took the lead nine minutes later.
The next three games of Strasbourg are against Nice at home on August 30, versus St. Etienne away on September 9 and they back at home against Dijon on September 20.
