Ghanaian defender Kingsley Schindler made his first appearance for Thai champions Buriram United in their AFC Champions League clash against Melbourne City.
Schindler joined Buriram from Turkish side Samsunspor during the international break, signing a deal until the end of the season. Despite being with the team for only eleven days, he impressed manager Osmar Loss Vieira and was handed a starting role in the squad that traveled to Australia.
The defender played until the 66th minute before being replaced by Shayne Pattynama. Buriram initially opened the scoring through Goran Causic shortly after his exit, but Melbourne City staged a late comeback with goals from Elbasan Rashani and Max Caputo to secure a 2-1 victory.
Schindler will be aiming for more minutes on the pitch as he works to cement his place at Buriram United and strengthen his case for inclusion in Otto Addo’s Ghana squad for the 2026 World Cup.
