Derrick Luckassen has made his first appearance for Ghana after featuring in the Black Stars’ 2-1 defeat to Germany in an international friendly.
The Dutch-born defender came on in the second half to replace the injured Kojo Oppong Peprah, marking his debut following a recent switch in international allegiance. He went on to play 34 minutes, contributing defensively with key clearances and strong challenges.
His inclusion forms part of efforts by coach Otto Addo to strengthen Ghana’s defensive setup ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The defender’s performance is expected to boost his chances of securing a place in the final squad for the tournament.
Despite improved display compared to previous matches, Ghana’s loss extended their winless run to four games, highlighting ongoing concerns about consistency.
The Black Stars are set to face Panama, Croatia and England in the group stage, as preparations continue for the global competition.
