Coach Mas Us Didi Draman has expressed delight at the performance of the Black Maidens at the ongoing FIFA under 17 female world cup in Jordan
The Maidens bounced back from a 5-0 trashing at the hands of defending champions Japan to record wins against title favourites USA and Paraguay to qualify for the quarter-final stage of the competition.
Didi Draman, whose tenure as the Maidens coach saw the team make history as the first African women’s team to finish in the semifinals of the FIFA world asserts that the team has done incredibly well but the focus must be on how they ladies are developed.
“I watched their last two games and they were impressive but our focus must not be on how far they go in the tournament but their development. The main aim of the youth teams is to develop them for the future. We will work on preparing them for the future”. The former Kotoko boss told Ashh FM.
The Black Maidens will come up against North Korea in the quarter-final stage of the competition on Thursday at 1pm
