Hearts of Oak legend Mohammed Ahmed Polo has expressed skepticism about the club’s latest managerial appointment, insisting that the arrival of Didi Dramani alone will not guarantee success unless deeper structural issues are addressed.
Dramani, a former Black Stars assistant coach, was recently unveiled as the new head coach of the Phobians on a two-year deal ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season. The former Asante Kotoko boss, who previously guided the Porcupine Warriors to two league titles and an FA Cup triumph, has been tasked with reviving Hearts of Oak’s fortunes after the club endured a trophyless 2024/25 campaign.
However, Polo, a vocal figure in Ghanaian football and a revered icon at Hearts, believes the coaching change will mean little without fundamental reforms.
“Didi Dramani’s appointment doesn’t guarantee success. What is he coming to do?” Polo questioned in an interview with Sporty FM.
“Aboubakar Ouattara came in and nearly led the club into relegation. In his second season, he still didn’t win anything.
“Now Didi Dramani is coming, but that alone won’t change anything unless the right structures and support systems are put in place,” he added.
Meanwhile, the club has officially reassigned Ouattara to a new role as Special Advisor to the Board of Directors, following the end of his tenure as head coach.
