The Ghana Division One League started on Saturday afternoon across the country and Kumasi Asokwa Deportivo SC welcomed Swedru All Blacks to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium for the match day one encounter.
The ‘Allah is Great’ Boys were the better side right from the blast of the referee’s whistle and dominated the game with some scintillating football on display.
Half way through the first half, striker Gordon Kusi Brooklyn scored the opening goal of the match on the 25th minute mark to put the hosts 1-0 up with 20 minutes left to play in the first half.
Two minutes to the end of the first 45 minutes, striker, Raymond Owusu Frimpong added to Asokwa Deportivo’s advantage by grabbing his first goal of the season to make it 2-0 to the home team before the break.
The visitors grabbed a consolation goal during additional time in the second half to halve their deficit to one with two minutes left.
Despite the late scare, Asokwa Deportivo sc held onto the their narrow lead to secure a vital home win over All Blacks with a 2-1 score line to kick start their 2020-21 Division One League with a win.
