Great footballers do not always become great coaches. Diego Maradona,Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Mohammed Polo are notable examples.
However there are just as many great players who became fine coaches and the examples of Jones Attoquayefio, Karim Abdul Razak, Pep Guardiola, Zinedine Zidane are easily remembered and Hearts of Oak legend Bernard Don Bortey wants to follow suit.
“We have some coaches as growing up as a player I watched them and wants to be like them as an upcoming coach. The likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, late Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, Arsene Wenger, and Giovani Trappatoni are the coaches I know and I Don Bortey wants to be like them” the former Ghana Premier League great said on Wontumi Radio.
When the talented dribbler was quizzed why he did not mention Pep Guardiola as part of his mentors he replied : “I know Pep was also a player during my playing days and he will also say the same as he looked up to those great coaches before becoming who he is now.”
