Bafana Bafana have to win against Senegal in their 2018 World Cup qualifier, as a draw will not be enough according to South African football legend, Mark Fish.
Bafana are in the last stages of their preparations for the game, to take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
In an interview with Soccer Laduma, Fish has emphasised that Bafana will need to aim for maximum points at home if they are to be in a good position to qualify for the tournament in Russia.
“I know we wanted three points against Burkina Faso, but I think 1–1 was a good result away from home. Although we conceded late, it was a good enough performance for the draw and we need to build on that. Senegal is one of the powerhouses of African football and it’s very important that, if we want to make a statement and qualify, we beat them and win the match”. said Fish.
He added “A draw is not going to be enough and we need to win. Travelling to Africa for the remaining two matches away is going to be very difficult and that is why we need to get maximum points when we are playing at home. It will also ease the pressure on us, so that we don’t need wins when we play away. Nine points at home is vital to paving the way for our qualification,”
