Dutch sports writer Mike Verweij has urged Ajax to go for Brian Brobbey in the impending January transfer window.
Brobbey, 19, moved to German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig as a free agent last summer but has not seen much action and Verweij gas called on Ajax to get him on loan as they need another striker to supper Sebastien Haller.
“Ajax has of course saw Brobbey leave on a free transfer, but I think there is a good chance that they can rent him with a mandatory option to buy. Why not step over your pride once and get such a boy for a few million? I think you can hear those sounds too – that the boy would want to go back to Amsterdam on his knees. I can’t imagine he’s happy at Leipzig.” Verweij who works with the Telegraaf stated in his Podcast
“The second striker behind Haller is Danilo. He is not in the plans at all. A conscious decision was made not to get a second striker, so now Tadic is the only real alternative behind Haller. I think you can hear him very well. In the Eredivisie, Brobbey can be of great value and reach a higher level, with which he can become important in Europe,”
“If Ajax offers five million, I think they have it.” He added.
Brobbey has played just three Bundesliga games providing one assist so far this season.
