In the French Ligue 1 match against AC Ajaccio on Sunday, Ghanaian international Alidu Seidu made his comeback for Clermont Foot after recovering from injury.
The 22-year-old right-back had been sidelined for weeks following a knee surgery in early February. However, he returned to the pitch today and played a significant role in helping Clermont Foot secure a 2-1 home win over Ajaccio, playing for 80 minutes before being substituted.
Despite Ajaccio taking the lead through Mounaim El Idrissy in the 24th minute, Seidu’s compatriot Grejohn Kyei scored twice from the penalty spot to secure the victory for Clermont Foot.
Alidu on Twitter after the game could not hide his excitement after returning on to the pitch again and congratulated his mates for the hard-fought victory. He said “Glad to find the field. +3 congratulations to the whole team”
Seidu had missed the Black Stars’ AFCON 2023 doubleheader qualifier against Angola last month due to his injury. However, he is expected to rejoin the team for the remaining two games in Group E in June.
Seidu had previously represented Ghana at the World Cup in Qatar, featuring in matches against Portugal and Uruguay.
