Ghanaian forward Eddie Nketiah has opened his Premier League goal account for Crystal Palace, scoring in their emphatic 4-1 victory over Aston Villa at Selhurst Park.
The 26-year-old, who joined Palace from Arsenal during the summer transfer window, had endured a long wait to find the net in the league. His breakthrough came on Tuesday evening when he converted a precise cross from Tyrick Mitchell to seal the win for the Eagles.
Nketiah entered the game in the 86th minute, replacing two-goal hero Ismaila Sarr, and made an immediate impact by scoring Palace’s fourth goal.
Earlier, Sarr had given the hosts the lead in the 29th minute, but Villa equalized through Morgan Rogers after the break. Crystal Palace’s top scorer, Jean-Philippe Mateta, quickly restored their advantage before Sarr completed his brace.
Having already found the net in the FA Cup, Nketiah finally broke his Premier League drought for Palace in his 19th league appearance for the club.
