Former GFA Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has defended the decision to extend the Ghana Football Association presidential term limit from two to three terms, saying eight years is too short to make a lasting impact in football administration.
The decision was approved during the GFA Ordinary Congress on August 12 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Prampram. While critics have opposed the move, Sannie Daara — now CAF Senior Media Officer — insists long-term leadership is essential for building influence and securing benefits for the country.
He argued that major football decision-makers globally serve multiple terms, citing that most CAF Executive Council members are in their fourth terms.
According to him, achieving real influence in football requires more time, stability, and sustained leadership.
