Techiman Eleven Wonders star Salifu Ibrahim produced another masterclass display to win his fourth Man of the Match award in his team’s 1-1 stalemate against Ashantigold SC.
Salifu caused massive trouble for the Miners defenders with his thunderous moves up front.
The Techiman-based club hosted Obuasi Ashantigold SC in the week six clash in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon in Techiman.
Wonders, who had lost their last home game to West African Football Academy (WAFA) SC were looking to bounce back to winning ways after picking up a point at Dormaa against Aduana Stars in the week five showdown.
Ashantigold SC were slow starters of the match and allowed the home team to pile early pressure on them in the opening exchanges of the match.
Ten minutes into the game, Ibrahim Salifu who has been a pivot for the Techiman based team broke the deadlock of the match to put the hosts 1-0 up under quarter of an hour mark.
After the goal, the Elephants were the better side as David Abagna and Appiah McCarthy came close on two separate occasions to drawing them level.
Despite Ashantigold SC’s dominance in the last 30 minutes of the the first half, XI Wonders remained resolute at the back to return to the dressing room with their noses in front by a lone goal advantage.
Ashantigold pressed forward in the second half but could not continue with their good goal scoring form but managed to draw level in the 92nd minute through substitute, Samad Ibrahim’s strike to help the Miners escape defeat to XI Wonders in Techiman.
XI Wonders are now on seven points as they occupy Ninth place with Ashantigold with nine points from five games with a game in hand sit fifth on the table.
