Black Stars forward, Emmanuel Boateng, scored the only goal of the game in Rio Ave’s win over Santa Clara on Sunday, October 2.
The Ghanaian returned to the Portuguese side this summer after ending his stay in the Chinese Super League.
While he had already netted his first goal of the 2022/23 season two games ago, Boateng was on hand to give the newly-promoted side all three points on Sunday.
The 26-year-old scored just 15 minutes into the game against Santa Clara before being taken off minutes into the second half due to an injury.
Boateng started alongside countryman, Abdul-Aziz Yakubu, who played the entire duration of the game.
Sunday’s result sees Rio Ave climb to 11th on the league table after eight games played, amassing nine points.
