Huddersfield Town’s teenage forward Cameron Ashia delivered a standout performance on Tuesday night, scoring a crucial second-half goal to help the Terriers edge past Leicester City in a dramatic EFL Cup first-round clash at the Accu Stadium.
The 18-year-old English-born Ghanaian showed energy and confidence from the start, taking the game to a Leicester side that boasted a dominant head-to-head record. Hamza Choudhury’s well-taken strike put the Foxes ahead early in the second half, but Daniel Vost responded with a towering header to bring Huddersfield level.
Leicester quickly regained the lead through Harry Winks, yet Ashia struck back in the 76th minute, smashing the ball into the top corner after a clever pass from Murray Wallace.
Ghana captain Jordan Ayew came off the bench for Leicester in the 82nd minute, but the match finished 2-2 in regulation time, forcing a penalty shootout.
