Former Asante Kotoko left back Eric Donkor, has appealed to Kotoko fans to keep supporting in form striker Sogne Yacouba even when things get tough for the Burkinabe international.
Having scored a BRACE against Ashgold at the Baba Yara last Sunday ,Yacouba has managed four goals in his his last three matches.
There is no doubt he has become fans’ favourite in the past weeks having netted TWICE against fierce rivals Hearts of Oak but Eric Donkor knowing how Kotoko fans react[as a former player] when things get tough asked them[Kotoko fans] to always the dreaded attacker.
Speaking in an interview with to Kumasi based New Mercury FM, Donkor stated, “He isn’t a bad player. He is doing well for the club and I hope things go well for him because in football things won’t always go well, players performance will be inconsistent and they[Kotoko fans] should understand,’’
He continued ‘’ When his performance drops they should support him like they are doing now to encourage him. He is a team player and that is one thing I like about him.”
Donkor, put Ashgold back into the lead [2-1] after Yacouba equalized Ashgold’s first goal which was scored by Sadick Adams from a spot kick.
The match ended 3-2 in favour of Kotoko.
