Mr. Kurt Simeon Edwin Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dared the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) that, even if the FIFA calls for a replay in Barcelona, Spain, the Black Stars would still defeat the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
Ghana needed a win whilst South Africa needed just a draw to advance to the final qualifying stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Black Stars posted a painful lone goal courtesy Andre Ayew’s spot-kick to guarantee Ghana a place in the playoffs stage. This sparked wild controversies from the South Africans saying the penalty awarded to Ghana was “fake” and that, they sensed some manipulations prior to the game and have called on FIFA to investigate the match.
Speaking at the Women’s Super-Cup launch in Accra on Thursday, Mr. Okraku, angrily said Ghana would beat South Africa even if a rematch is played in Barcelona and asked the SAFA President to desist from the lies and allegations leveled against Ghana.
“South Africa can even ask to replay the match in Barcelona and we would beat them again,” GFA President said.
He added that the current South African team was the worst he watched on Sunday, stressing that, they do not deserve to qualify for the play-offs.
“Someone should tell the South Africans their team is not good enough to qualify to the World Cup. How did they even think they would beat Ghana. Black Stars was the best team in the group and South Africa should not be bad losers? He said.
He expressed disappointment in the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) Boss, Danny Jordaan on the allegations and asked him to tell the South Africans that his side was not the best against Ghana.
