Ex-Black Stars striker, Augustine Arhinful believes this is not the right time to call for the dismissal of Black Stars coach CK Akonnor.
The former teammate of the head coach for the Black Stars says Ghana has a very short time to prepare for their next Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe next month and for that matter must maintain CK Akonnor at the helms of affairs.
Speaking to Nhyira FM in Kumasi, Arhinful stated that, looking at the timing, sacking of CK Akonnor will not help matters as he described the situation as a wrong timing for the coach to be axed.
“This is the wrong time to sack Charles Kwablan Akonnor”, Arhinful advised.
“We can talk to him to improve on his performance”, he suggested.
“We have a short period to the next round of matches”, he concluded.
The calls for the head of Akonnor surfaced after Black Stars shambolic performance against Ethiopia despite getting a narrow 1-0 victory at home to kick off their World Cup qualifiers with a slim win.
Things got out of hands as numerous Ghanaians started a movement on social media platforms asking for Akonnor to be sacked following Ghana’s disgraceful loss to Bafana Bafana in South Africa where their Black Stars failed to register a single shot on target.
Despite everything, Arhinful says the coach can be talked to up his performance instead of sacking him.
