The former Black Stars attacker has lauded the Ghana U-23 team after they defeated the Fennec Foxes of Algeria 2-1 on aggregate on Tuesday to confirm their place at the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
Captain Yaw Yeboah’s second half strike was all that the Black Meteors needed to record an important 1-0 away victory against Algeria at the Setif Stadium to qualify for the U-23 Africa Cup of nations which will be held in Egypt.
The Black Meteors were held to a 1-1 draw last Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium by the Fennec Foxes before traveling to Algeria to seal a 1-0 win.
Ghana have thus qualified for the continental showpiece to bee held in Egypt and will be hope to make the top three in a bid to seal qualification to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
”I want to applaud the lads(Black Meteors) for such stand out performance yesterday. We lacked a potent defensive midfielder in the first leg that was why we couldn’t win but in Algiers we provided,” Arhinful told Kumasi-based Light FM.
”I would like many players from the Black Meteors, migrated to the main national team (Black Stars) because they are the foundation of the senior team in order to secure a proper progression of them.
”We should have a particular system of play example (4-3-3, 4-2-3-1) which would be abreast to the Junior team through to the senior national, and moreover maintaining the players and being consistent has been our major problem.”
