Former Ghanaian defender Eric Addo has returned PSV as as a specialist trainer for next season.
The now 41-year-old former international will start in the youth academy of his old club.
Addo will do an internship at the PSV Academy, where will can gain experience as a specialist trainer at De Herdgang.
Addo will now handle the O13, O14, O15 and O16 of PSV reports via the club’s website.
With Addo, PSV has acquired a crowd favorite. The Ghanaian joined PSV from Club Brugge and remained under contract until 2009.
After 82 games in ten years, he left for Roda JC, the club that previously hired him on only.
The calm defender who capped 45 times for the Black Stars, ended his career in 2012 with fellow-townsman FC Eindhoven.
‘’Former PSV player Eric Addo will be doing an internship in PSV’s youth academy this season. The former defender from Ghana is attached to PSV O13, O14, O15 and O16 as an internship specialist trainer at the PSV Academy,’’ PSV announced on its website.
The club added that ‘’Eric Addo Was under contract as a player at PSV for almost ten years. The defender became champion of the Netherlands in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. After his career, the Ghanaian explored the training profession at FC Eindhoven, among others. PSV now gives Addo the space to get his training papers.’’
Addo is regarded as a culhero in Eindhoven. The supporters’ association recently awarded him the bronze medal in the cult hero election of VI, behind Björn van der Doelen and Berry van Aerle.
