Former Ghana football star, Nii Odartey Lamptey has urged Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to consider adding former Black Stars coach James Kwasi Appiah, to the newly constituted Asante Kotoko Board of Directors.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, recently entrusted Asante Kotoko into the hands of Dr Kwame Kyei for a second time after maintaining him as Executive Chairman of the club.
The business mogul, will head newly-constituted Board of Directors made of nine members.
He will be assisted by Jude Arthur, who served as a board member in 2013. Tema-based businessman and two-time board member Alhaji Lamine has also been brought back to be part of the new team.
Former sports journalist Evelyn Nsiah Asare, who is now Director of Sports at the Sunyani Technical University is also part of the board.
Other members include Joseph Yaw Adu, Laryea Kwamina Mensah, Kwadwo Boateng Genfi.
According to letter by Manhyia Palace Chief of Staff, Kofi Badu, the new Board of Directors have been tasked to rebuild the Kotoko brand not only for its performance on the sporting field but as a viable economic entity.
And the former Ghana international, has appealed to the life patron and owner of the club to add Appiah who captained the club during his playing days to the new board.
‘’I will plead with Otumfuo to add an ex footballer like Coach Kwasi Appiah to Kotoko Board Members,’’ the former Anderlecht star told Ocean 1 TV.
‘’The reason why I mention Kwasi Appiah is that, the system we are in now he has seen it for the past ten to fifteen years,” Odartey added.
