Deep throat sources gathered by SPORTSworldGhana.com exclusively reveals that former Ashgold CEO and Ghana FA executive Council Member Frederick Acheampong looks certain to be appointed the next CEO of Asante Kotoko in the likely event where touted Nana Yaw Amponsah is finally snubbed by the hierarchy of the Kumasi based club.
The president of Phar Rangers Football Club and and the failed Ghana football association presidential hopeful stood among his peers tall for the Asante Kotoko job.
However, a heavy chunk of Asante Kotoko followers had a dissenting view on his likely appointment as CEO of Kotoko following a purported reports suggesting he’s affiliated to bitterest rival club of Kotoko, Hearts of Oak.
It will be recalled just last week Nana Yaw presented a comprehensive action plan to the BoD of Kotoko which got leaked to the public.
SPORTSworldGhana.com understand the hierarchy of Kotoko got very furious learning how the document got leaked and had a rethought of appointing Amponsah as the likely CEO.
Kwame Aboagye Mensah, who is the special assistant to the palace’s Chief of Staff, in an interview with Opemsuo Radio said the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential hopeful is not on the verge of being appointed because Asantehene Osei Tutu II is unhappy with his information management.
We have heard the news circulating in the media that the Board of Directors has settled on him [Nana Yaw Amponsah]. It’s not true and I repeat it’s not true,” Kwame Aboagye Mensah told Opemsuo FM in an exclusive interview.
“Everyone should take note that Asante Kotoko is a big brand and it can’t work with someone who is not secretive.
“Being interviewed by the Board of Directors and the next hour everything said during the meeting is in the media….how can we work with such individual?” he quizzed.
“If people have forgotten, let me remind that of Osei Kuffour who publicly said he’s the new President of Asante Kotoko. Was Osei Kuffour appointed to lead Asante Kotoko after all the interviews? It’s a big no.
“We have plans for the club and announcements are not to be made by the public but His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II,” he concluded.
Ache, who known for his in-depth knowledge in Ghana football, is strongly in line to land the CEO’s job should Amponsah be finally overlooked.
