Ghanaian international Ernest Asante has signed for Cypriot champions Omonia Nicosia as a free agent, SPORTSworldGhana.com can exclusively report.
Asante, 31, appended his signature to a two-year deal with the “Queen” after spending the last two years in the Gulf region.
He spent the second half of last season at United Arab Emirates side Fujairah SC but was released this summer.
The fleet-footed winger is expected to play a key role in Omonia Nicosia’s UEFA Champions League campaign and also their quest to retain the league trophy.
Asante attained cult status in Scandinavia with the likes of Stabaek, IK Start and FC Nordsjaelland but things didn’t work out for him in the Arabian lands where he featured for the likes of Al Jazeera, Al Hazm and Fujairah SC
