British-born Ghanaian forward Claudio Ofosu has signed a permanent deal with English NationalLeague club Hartlepool United.
The 21-year-old joins the fifth tier side after spending last season with BetVictor Southern League Premier Division side Royston Town where he enjoyed a successful season driving them to a second-place league finish.
With 9 goals and 11 assists last year, Claudio who is of Ghanaian parentage quickly became well known for his quick speed, skillful wing play, and natural ability to run past his man.
Ofosu began his career with St Neots Town, making 24 appearances before joining Stevenage, progressing through the club’s youth system and enjoying loan spells at Biggleswade United, where he bagged three goals in six appearances, and then six appearances at Kings Langley before a loan spell at Mildenhall Town, all gaming valuable first-team experience.
After leaving The Lamex Stadium, Ofosu returned to St Neots Town, netting three times in 24 appearances.
‘I’m over the moon to sign for the club. It’s a huge club, with a huge following. It’s a dream come true to sign for Hartlepool, as I believe God is at the center of everything for me and with him everything is possible. I can’t wait to get started and play at The Vic and show the fans what I can do” Ofosu told the club’s website.
Manager Dave Challinor said “He is a player we kept our eye in through the whole course of last season, a young lad with a lot of potentials. He is quick, direct and he’s one of them that gets the fans on the edge of their seat. As I said, he still only is a young lad but we hope he can come in and hit the ground running straight away”.
