Ghana defender Edward Sarpong has expressed delight at his debut Black Black Meteors call-up for the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of nations qualifier against Algeria.
The Clube Futebol Esperanca de Lagos left-back who can also play as a center-back is one of the foreign players who have been invited by Ghana U-23 head coach Ibrahim Tanko for for the crucial clash against Algeria next month.
Speaking exclusively to SportsworldGhana.com on his maiden call-up, Sarporg said ” I am happy for this invitation by the head Coach for the big game,”
”Every Ghanaian player wants to play for a national team and I am one of them so I really value the call-up and ready to do my best for the country.
”I know there are many Ghanaian players out there who are hoping to get this opportunity so I will do my possible best to ensure I impress the technical handlers to be part of their selection.
” I know when I am selected to play definitely I will excel and make sure I cement a slot in the team hopefully for the Afcon and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games,”
Ghana will face Algeria at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 6 before the return encounter in Algiers on September 10.
The winner of the two-legged tie will qualify for the African U-23 championship to be staged in Egypt from 8-22 November 2019
