FC Nordsjælland have turned down an €18m from English Premier League club for the transfer of their star player Caleb Yirenkyi.
Even though the price remains the biggest bid for a football player in the Super League this winter, Tipsbladet reports that FC Nordsjælland football director has swiftly rejected the offer.
Brighton had expressed keen interest in securing the signature of the Ghanaian poster boy but their offer have not been convincing enough to lure Yirenkyi to the club.
Alexander Riget, who most recently made it crystal clear in the podcast Transferguru that it will not be until the summer that the diamond Caleb Yirenkyi will be allowed to leave, and when he does, it will be to one of the big football addresses in Europe – namely a top five league.
“Caleb is about to have played a lot of games, and we have made some plans with him, so it could well be a summer sale because he has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Super League, although I would say that he has looked a little tired towards the end, says Riget, who expects the midfielder to go directly to a big club.” he said.
“He is extremely mature. We have agreed that he does not need an intermediate step in a Dutch sub-top club or the bottom of the Bundesliga. He is ready, we think, to move directly to a top five league and also a bit higher.” added Alexander Riget.
He also expressed at the same time that 20-year-old Caleb Yirenkyi and another young star in Prince Amoako Junior should both be sold for over 100 million kroner when the time comes.
“I would go so far as to say that I think they should be sold for more than 100 million kroner. Then the question is when is the right timing. We need to figure that out, Alexander Riget told Transferguru.
Caleb Yirenkyi will now remain at FC Nordsjælland until the end of the season, where he would likely be sold for a more higher money.
