FC Samartex, the newly crowned Ghana Premier League champions, are set to represent Ghana in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League after their impressive campaign.
The Timber Giants won the league title in just their second season in the top flight, and will hope to make a mark in the prestigious competition.
Although they have secured the slot, Samartex has yet to officially accept or announce their intentions of participating in the CAF Champions League. However, they will be hoping to emulate Dreams FC, who made history by reaching the CAF Confederation Cup semifinal in their maiden season in Africa.
Samartex won the title with two games remaining in the season after beating Bibiani Goldstars on matchday 32. They were officially crowned champions on Sunday, June 16, 2024, following a 2-0 home win over Accra Lions at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena. With this victory, Samartex finished the season with a total of 61 points after 34 games.
The atmosphere in Samreboi was electrifying as the team celebrated their league triumph in style. Having emerged as champions, Samartex is expected to take home a whopping GHC500,000.
