World football governing body- FIFA – has imposed a transfer ban on Kenyan Premier League side, Sofapaka FC for owing Ghanaian footballer Jedinak Nana Ameyaw.
Sofapaka terminated the contract of the player with a year left on his contract early this year.
Nana Ameyaw is expected to receive $12,000 as payment for the rest of his contract and a $1000 for legal expense.
“We have every intention of paying the money very soon, it’s just we have had problems with funding,” Elly Kalekwa, president of Sofapaka, told BBC Sport Africa.
The ban means Sofapaka cannot register players domestically and abroad until all fees owed Nana Ameyaw is paid.
The youngster joined the Kenyan topflight side from Channis Soccer Academy in Ghana.
