FIFA U-17 Women’s WCQ: Sports minister Mustapha Ussif salutes Black Maidens following massive win over Guinea

Ghana’s Minister for youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, has congratulated the Black Maidens after their 1-3 win over Guinea on Saturday in the first leg of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Maidens posted resounding victory over the female national U-17 side of Guinea in the first leg tie of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Stade Général Lansana Conté de Nongo in Conakry on Saturday 15th April, 2022.

The Black Maidens, who are in search for their seventh consecutive World Cup ticket, recorded a thunderous start to the game and got the opener in the 13th minute through Georgina Ayisha Aoyem.

Captain Georgina Ayisha Aoyem shot the visitors ahead after making a good use of corner-kick effected by her teammate Stella Nyamekye.

Pearlpia Ladies winger Rasheeda Shahadu doubled Ghana’s lead with a powerful drive on the 30th minute of the game.
The Black Maidens held had a 2-0 lead after the first forty-five minutes.
Back from recess, the Guineans reorganized themselves into the match to pull one back on the 58th minute.
Nonetheless, the Black Maidens remained resilient as Mariama Maltiti scored to restore her side’s 2 goals lead.
Coach Baba Nuhu introduced Karim Abdulai, Takia Zakaria and Asana Alhassan into the match to replace Stella Nyamekye, Rasheeda Shahadu and Constance Agyeman respectively.
The game ended in a 3-1 victory for the Black Maidens.
The reverse leg tie will be played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on April 30.
