Black Starlets defender Bismark Owusu Terry reveals together with team mates are motivated and anxiously can’t wait to see the commencement of the U-17 World Cup, slated 6th to 28 of October next month in India and looks set to rob shoulders with every participating team.
Ghana in the tournament’s opener will lock-horns with Colombia at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to mark the country’s ninth appearance in the FIFA World Cup.
The Starlets in Group ‘A’ are placed with countries like the ‘Los Cafeteros (The Coffee growers) of Colombia, the ‘Yanks’ of USA and the ‘Blue Cubs’ of India.
Terry In an interview said “I’ve spoken to couple of my teammates and as a team we can’t wait for the commencement of the World Cup as we are highly motivated for the competition and ready to rob shoulders with every participating team,” he told FIFA TV.
The team is considered as one of the tournament favourites,following their glittering performance at the CAF U-17 African Cup of nations held in Gabon as runners-up(2nd).
The Mandela Soccer Academy player feather noted “we most often take inspiration from the 1991 Starlets team that won the country its first World Cup in Italy with virtually unknown players,not to talk of this current Starlets team who enters this competition,coming out from 54 African countries through the qualifiers of the ‘African Cup of Nations’ to place 2nd in Gabon,”.
Ghana,two-time Champions at the FIFA U-17 World Cup tournament, winning in 1991 and 1995 respectively will look set to end the nation’s 22 years trophy drought in India as the team currently pitched camp in Dubai(Abu-Dhabi).
