High-flying Ghanaian youngster Felix Ohene Afena Gyan has opted not to honour a call-up to the Black Stars which has been officially confirmed by the Ghana FA for the World Cup qualifying games against Ethiopia and South Africa this week.
The 18-year-old will not join Ghana’s team as they travel to South Africa for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia on Thursday at the Orlando stadium in Johannesburg.
The Serie A side AS Roma youngster was handed a debut call up by Serbian tactician Milovan Rajevac but the youngster has turned down the call-up to focus on developing his game under Jose Mourinho.
According to the handlers of the new sensation, the teenager will need more time to mature and want him to focus on club football for now.
Ghana FA has stated that 24 players will travel to South Africa for the game excluding injured pair Jonathan Mensah and Thomas Partey and Felix Afena Gyan who has turned down the chance to play for Ghana.
The FA stated the youngster is unavailable for the game and confirmed the traveling squad for the match.
