Finnish top-flight side FC Haka have completed the signing of Ghanaian winger Ishmael Yartey on a one-year deal.
The 31-year-old attacking midfielder is not new to Finnish football having previously had a stint with KPV.
Yartey, who is a winger, played in KPV for the rest of 2019 and finished six goals in 11 Veikkausliiga matches. In addition, he has played in his main series in Portugal, Switzerland, France and the USA, among others and most recently, he played in Saudi Arabia.
”Without the support of the season ticket holders, we would not have been able to acquire him,” emphasizes Haka’s CEO Olli Huttunen.
Yartey can be considered a big hijack from Haka, as according to CEO Olli Huttunen, Yartey’s agent’s phone started ringing at a close pace after the news of his test in Haka was published.
However, Haka attracted a developable winger for himself and the season cardholders will be able to enjoy the preconceptions of their own sponsor in the coming season.
The man adds the desired speed and danger to Haka’s attack, being pleased with the deal himself.
”One of the main reasons why I chose Haka was the conversation I had with Teemu Tainio, which left a positive picture. He called me and inquired about my willingness to join the team,” said Yartey.
”Now I’m here and happy about it! I look forward to helping the team achieve their goals,” he added.
Teemu Tainio also expressed satisfaction with the capture of the ace attacker.
” Ishmael is a powerful wing player who comes with the danger of attacking. A good one against one player who has a good left.
”A pleasant person outside the field and a winner on the field,” Tainio added.
Yartey himself believes that Tainio already knew from the 2019 season what kind of potential can be found in the acquisition.
”I’m going to work hard and I am ready to play the role, what the coach wants.
”Personally, I aim to play regularly, and I help the team with my goals and assists. I will adopt the team’s style of play and play for the team, the man promises.
