Former GHALCA Chief Bemoans GFA’s 18-Team Division One League Proposal

The former Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association, Alhaji Ali Raji has voiced out his displeasure on a number issues relating to football in the country.

The astute football administrator has expressed concern with the take-off of the administration of the new GFA President, Mr. Kurt Okraku. He indicated in an interview with Kumasi based Akoma 87.9fm that he has not been impressed with certain decisions taken by the new administration.

“I have not been impressed with the way this GFA has taken off”, in fact I’m not happy”.

Throwing more light on why the former GHALCA boss was not happy about the new administration, he stated, “The new GFA doesn’t seem to understand the rationale behind decentralizing the division one league.

The focus was to take football to all corners of the country and to make football accessible to the people so that players with talent in the hinterlands will have opportunities to showcase their talent”.

This is in contrast with efforts by the new football administration to centralize the forty eighteen-club division one league into centralized eighteen-team league. The

GFA is in the process of forming a five-member advisory committee made up of three persons nominated by Division one clubs and two persons from the GFA.

The Committee will advise the Executive Council on the format, the possible name of the new 18-club Division One League and the phases of implementation.
