Former Accra Hearts of Oak SC midfielder Benjamin Afutu Kotey has departed Ghana for Egypt ahead of his proposed move to newly promoted top-flight side Eastern Company Sporting Club (El Sharkia Dokhan FC).
The 25-year-old rock-solid midfield-anchor has traveled today and is expected to sign for the Egyptian club by the end of tomorrow, Sportsworldghana.com can confirm.
He was a delight to watch throughout the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League for the Phobians and helped the team to win the domestic double at the end of the season.
He scored seven goals in all competitions for the Rainbow Boys and also bagged five assists as he emerged as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the league.
Afutu will sign a three-year deal with the newly promoted team as free agent after leaving Hearts of Oak SC at the end of the season without extending his contract.
